Our story

The core of every being is the same

Samarasa is an old idea: at the centre, we are not different. The foundation exists to practise that idea in rooms where children have been hurt — and in rooms where adults are trying not to fail them.

Children, teachers, and the Samarasa Foundation banner in a community classroom.

We are a young not-for-profit, incorporated in 2025 and based in Goregaon East, Mumbai. Youth and newness are not excuses. They are a reason to stay honest: we will not publish impact numbers we have not earned, or photographs that trade a child’s worst day for attention.

The method is simple and slow. Enter without a role or an agenda. Let suffering be felt and understood. Then build — education, trauma-informed care, spoken English, after-school hours — so that what helped a few can reach many.

If you are a caregiver, a teacher, or someone who wants to talk about this work, we would rather have a conversation than a pitch.

Caregivers and facilitators after a trauma-informed care training.
